Abbottabad city is situated in the Orash Valley in Hazara region of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa province.
The city is at a distance of 150 kilometers from capital Islamabad. The city is well-known for its pleasant weather, high-standard educational institutions and military establishments.
The city was founded in January 1853 by Major James Abbott who was also the first deputy commissioner of Abottabad district.
Sarban Hills surround the twon from all four sides. This geography has resulted in very pleasant weather for the city in summer and cold in winter.
